Random Cow is the brain child of Jim Caryl, a professional research biochemist and molecular biologist with eight years research experience. I created my first website in 1995, back in the early days of the internet. Realising the value of websites as a new media, I used web design to supplement my income through years of university. One of my key philosophies is to provide websites for companies that I support and want to do well. This makes all the difference to how I approach a project; if you're not happy, I'm not happy. Much of my professional life involves communication in various forms, from communicating science to the lay public and students to presenting highly technical information at international conferences. I have had articles published in the pre-eminant international scientific journals in my field, and have served for many years as a scientific consultant on a variety of "ask a scientist" websites.
